we are all Beautiful…we are all Ugly

I have heard men call Beyoncé ugly…Kim K., Halle Berry… Even when they are in full contour, there is some man that thinks they are not all that.

Ugliness is subjective.
Being Beautiful is subjective.

So what’s the standard, right?

Challenging Feminism

Women have come so far. I reblogged this post because of the validity of some of the points the original blogger made. Truly valid.

I think we as women have made much progress, but there is still more to fight for because equality is essential in all areas of life for women and men. Keep marching, keep fighting for our rights; the rights below the surface. Yes, we can vote, work, drive cars, and own our own businesses, but the sly looks you get from men in power, the overlook, the shun, the disrespect, sexual harrassment…. yes, we still have to fight for that!

We must, as women continue to value human life. It is important to me to educate women to be the best versions of themselves because it is something I am always working on, and all women deserve to know that they truly are the core of life, and no matter the stereotypical discrimation, never back down, fight through a mans personal bull****!

The emotional and psychological struggles that cause women to doubt their potential, disgusts me, but it is embedded in our society. It’s the foundation. Every day, we must try to rebuild that foundation.

Lately, it’s been really weird to be a woman.

200-11

Not because of any fashion or makeup trends…although, I will say…I don’t quite understand the reemergence of the shoulder pad.

But because of all the recent hyper focus on…feminism.

The Women’s March, International Women’s Day, protests, walk outs, I mean, we get it already

But to be honest, I am confused by the whole matter.

Women are not marginalized in the United States of America.

What are they fighting for? Why all the anger?

Now listen, I know that this post is probably going to garner a lot of backlash, but you know what, that’s okay. I would love to hear thoughts on all sides of this issue. Truly. Every person is entitled to their own viewpoints, and I respect those feelings, even if they differ from mine. And of course, there is always room for improvement in removing some lingering…

Welcome everyone!

Today I want to jump right in and talk about this new blog I came across. The author goes by the name of Pinkspen and the name of the blog is LADYHOOD. LADYHOOD advocates self-love, peace and equality for all women. The reason I love this blog so much is because if anyone knows me, I am one for all of us to unify and help one another instead of berate and bully each other. As Pinkspen introduces herself and gives the run down of what her intentions with her writing are, she also establishes that she wants to first and foremost be a mentor to women who would seek her advice.

“Talking to a stranger, someone who does not know you (a mentor), can reveal those inadequacies that those closest to you, cannot. I want to be that mentor for you!” Pinkspen said in her blog.

That…

Is ‘Equality’ taking the ‘Lady’ out of Women Today?

It is extremely difficult to be a modern woman. The financial demands alone, have made it almost impossible to be a stay-at-home mom, because if most of us didn’t work, we would be considered low-income. As a fairly new mother myself, who struggled financially due to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the required amount of unpaid Maternity Leave women can get when pregnant or after delivery of their child, I know what it is like to struggle financially.

Please check out my post MATERNITY LEAVE IN AMERICA: THE STORY OF THE STRUGGLING MOTHER

There was no way I could be financially stable and be a stay-at-home mother. I feel that all women have the right to work and take care of their families, but sometimes I wonder if I was neglecting my child by putting her in childcare at 9 months, or if she would be “more balanced… happier if we had followed a traditional family situation.”

I ask this question to cause thought and prompt responses from you dear readers for my own pondering ………

I’ve recently been considering “what makes a woman a lady?”

I’ve reached that phase of life where I could become a grandma at any time and that has reminded of my own Grandma and Nanna, who they were and what they stood for.

Both women were beautiful, elegant, kind, loving, well spoken, well dressed, to a degree ….God fearing and most definitely, both were true ladies. Both women taught me practical life skills and spiritual lessons. They had the classic traits, I would say, of real ladies.

They came from a different era though, their only concern was to keep a good home for their families and attend to their working husbands. Once married these women did not work outside the home any longer. Their work then involved house chores…

3 Day Quote Challenge: Day 2

Being a woman is not easy. I was asked on New Years Eve, why the focus of my blog was on women being the best versions of themselves and why were men not included? The exclusion was not on purpose, necessarily, but it is, without a doubt, that women need more of a focus because, this is in fact a [heterosexual] mans world.

the Real Superwoman

I can be anything, or do anything I put my effort into….
I am motivated!

I can go to school, go to work, and take care of my home….
I am a scholar!

I can admit when I am wrong…
I am flawlessly imperfect!

I can smile, even when I am hurting…
I am rock solid!

I can walk a mile in 6 inch heels…
I am poised!

I can go 24 hours without wearing any make-up…
I am beautiful!

I can cry when I watch a Disney movie…
I am strong!

I can take care of myself and everyone else I love…
I am reliable!

I can fight for love…
I am patient!

I can reach my goals and dream, even with doubters all around me…
I am persistent!

I can give birth to a life…
I am the real Superwoman!
