29 & Fine Birthday in The Burgh

Everyone celebrates their 30th birthday as a milestone. I decided that instead of waiting until next year, I would go all in to celebrate the last year of my 20s in my city, Pittsburgh, PA for a birthday celebration and photo shoot.

I really wanted to be bright, flirty, and sophisticated when it came to my birthday outfit. I decided to wear my top (pictured above) backwards because it was little too much boob for me, and bring the look together with a floral, hot pink cover-up.

Wigle Whiskey Distillery Tasting Room

Our first stop was Wigle Whiskey Distillery, located in the Strip District (about 5 minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh. Before out whiskey tasting tour began we enjoyed 1 FREE cocktails and Threadbare Cider in the bar and lounge area (super cute venue). We tasted about 3-4 different whiskeys, one gin, and even a rum and each were all unique and amazing to try. Our tour guide was so informative and fun.

“American whiskey was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,” (Wigle Whiskey)

The whiskey tasting tour was amazing. We learned all about how Pittsburgh became the homeland for Whiskey back in the 1700s-1800s (Wigle Whiskey).

Our tour guide also shared the process to make this local delight with the group and provided samples of about 3-4 different whiskeys, one gin, and even a rum. I really enjoyed the Organic Allegheny Wheat Whiskey as you are about to see.

If you really want to be a concessionaire, add bitters to your Whiskey. This Rosemary Lavender was my favorite.

I was truly in my zone during this whiskey tasting. I am a wine and whiskey woman and I tasted everything they had to offer, including the Gin which I actually enjoyed as well. Each whiskey was unique, some spicy and some smooth, but all were amazing to learn about.

Our tour guide was so informative and fun and she even gave me a free ticket to visit the new Threadbare Cider house and Meadery near Wigle in Spring Garden Avenue on my side of town, the North-side of Pittsburgh. I can’t wait to check them out and taste more of their delicious cider.

Wigle Whiskey did not disappoint. If you are looking for an amazing place to visit in the city of Pittsburgh, PA, you definitely need to book a tour at The Distillery Tasting Room for you and a group of friends and head down to the Strip District.

This is great place to go for a night on the town with friends, a date night, ladies night and perfect for any celebration. You can also visit the Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden in Spring Garden, or the Tasting Room and Bottle Shop located inside the Omni William Hotel in Downtown, Pittsburgh.

I couldn’t have asked for a better start for my birthday celebration; all thanks to my best friend Quinn Jones, professional bartender for putting the Wigle Whiskey tour together.

I will definitely be returning to Wigle Whiskey in the future. An amazing atmosphere, fun environment, a great staff, and quality whiskey that you cannot find anywhere else in Pittsburgh, PA.

Before dinner, we decided to slay the sidewalk and that’s exactly what we did …

This was my first time visiting Smallman Galley in the Strip and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was live, the food was amazing, and the staff were all so energetic and helpful. The seating in Smallman Galley is self-serve and apparently we got lucky finding a spot on their outdoor patio.

We were told that there were four different restaurants to order from. Go in the line, order, purchase and take a number place at your seat and the staff will find us with our meals when the food was prepared.

While we waited for our food, my bestie Quinn and I decided to check out the bar and go outside for our own mini photo-shoot outside of Smallman Galley.

I ordered the deep dish white pizza with pepperoni. A little overdone for me, but it was still delicious and I ate every bite with some help from my friends and family.

I would definitely recommend visiting Smallman Galley in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. It’s only a few minutes away from Downtown and so convenient for a large crowd because everyone can order what they want. It is a kid-friendly, upbeat, an extremely cute venue and an overall fun place to be. The staff was amazing and I can’t wait to go and enjoy the other restaurants inside.

Strip District Love

One of my favorite locations in Pittsburgh is the Strip District. I had to get the ladies in the street for a photo session.

The best thing about having your girls with you on your birthday is knowing that at any moment you can start dancing and they will join in, no problem.

The strip is so lively; filled with boutiques, bars, and local shops that are all unique and filled with urban Pittsburgh life.

Penn Avenue in the Strip District

One of the best nightlife in Pittsburgh is in the Strip District. It is a great location for Pittsburgh locals and visitors to get a taste of what the city is all about.

We were not ready to leave the Strip, so we headed to one of the many local bars on Penn Avenue. I had never been to Lefty’s but I heard great things, and they did not disappoint with their Strong Islands.

Seven Nightclub

The first thing you do when you get to Seven is visit the bathroom. Why? Because they have the best lighting for pictures of course. Chalkboard walls. We couldn’t resist.

My cousin Tasha Martin (local Pittsburgh artist/designer of the LADYHOOD journey logo) definitely made her way to the bathroom.

Jasmine Taylor, another one of my closest friends finally made it out as well.

I couldn’t be happier to have everyone together in our city.

Seven is one of my favorite club bars in the city. They play hip hop and pop music all night and it’s always a mixed crowd. The dance floor is always lit and the people are always live.

We danced all night.

And of course, we enjoyed the bar.

Seven was the perfect ending to an amazing birthday celebration.

Thank you Quinn Jones, Payton Pinkston, Tyesha Scott, Cydney Cooper, Lauren Bivins, Jasmine Taylor, Tasha Martin, and of course Jasmine Adams (photographer) for being with me on my special day.  I am so thankful to all of you for making my 29 & Fine Birthday Photoshoot badass.
